She Grows So Fast!

I can't believe how fast Laurie is growing up, from two big teeth to eating solid foods. Each day she is mastering something she couldn't do the day before.

She is taking a big girl bath now. And she loves it! It's practically her very own swimming pool. The running water, the drain, the silver fixtures, everything is fascinating. She has tons of bath toys, but you can see from how Laurie is white knuckling the duck, her first bath toy is still her favorite. She is nothing if not loyal. She will go so far as to lunge after him in the water if he happens to get away.

The chip off the old block is enjoying reading!

She is crawling everywhere, she still prefers the army crawl, but this last week, she is trying out a few big girl crawling moves.

After weeks of hearing dadadada and then babababa, I am finally getting to hear mamamama. That is the most beautiful word in the English language. Speaking of beautiful, I love her sweet, soft baby whispers, but she has recently started adding a shrill squeal to her repertoire. I do not know where she go that from, I guess from some bad influence in the nursery.

Lake St John

We thought we would try Laurie out on Lake St John again. She was a little stuffy, so no one got a ton of sleep, but we still had a great time. She was not in love with her life jacket, after she got used to it she sacked out, she was so cuddly, even if a little hot. She did get a kick out of watching the waves.

Mom and Dad always look for alligators when they go boating, so it completed our trip to see TWO while we were out. I do not know how anyone still braves swimming in the water aftering seeing these awful things floating around!

Busy Fall Weekend

We do love an action packed weekend. As much as Laurie does not love traveling, we have realized if we are making a trip, we need to make the most of it. So when the Fair Family (Will's Mom's side) decided to have a reunion in the grove before the Ole Miss / Vanderbilt game this weekend, we thought while we were up north, we ought to go see Aunt Jane and Uncle Bob in Dyersburg. And while we are going to Dyersburg, we can't pass through Memphis without letting Laurie see the Peabody ducks.

I am not to proud to admit that Mommy may have been more excited about Laurie seeing the ducks than Laurie was actually excited about seeing the ducks. We got there just in time to harass them for a few minutes before they had to march up to the roof for the night. Did you know the Peabody ducks only work for 3 months before they retire? I need that life!

Laurie loved her visit, new people to dazzle with her sweet smile and lots to explore. We can't wait to go back when we can stay longer.

What a fun game! Laurie's first football game was a good one, with Daddy's two favorite teams playing, we couldn't lose. I was so proud of how well she did. She loved when the crowd cheered and cried when they booed, sounds like a real fan in the making.

The minute we hit the road, Pudding passed out, cell phone in hand and pacifier in mouth.

Because I Can

So...is there a reason she felt the desire to crawl under the exersaucer? Did you think it looked like fun under there? Or did you just do it because you can?

The Tooth Fairy

I have been suspecting for the last week that Laurie has a tooth coming in. She doesn't really want to open her mouth to let you see it and she sure won't let you feel it. But I thought I felt a little sandpaper on her gums, plus she's been rolling her tongue all over her mouth. We finally managed to pry her mouth open to get a little proof. And what do my wondering eyes see? Not just one tooth, but TWO! Poor baby, it must hurt to have two big mean teeth coming in all at once.

Nail Clippers and Echo

I think for most women, all you have to do is find their soft spot and you can get them to do most anything. For me, it might be a yummy cream sauce or maybe a sparkly bauble. For Laurie, if you have her favorite nail clippers, you can lead her anywhere. At least in the picture below, she is gnawing on the plastic part and not the sharp metal end. And what else is she playing with? Diaper cream and a nose bulb.

Today, we were in the bathroom and I asked Laurie if she could hear her echo. She burst out laughing. All day long we have talked about "echo" and then burst out in giggles. Funny girl.

Army Girl

The Army has got nothing on my girl's crawl. I am amazed at how well she gets around like this. I rather prefer it though, she isn't quick and takes several breathers in route. So, it's easier to foresee if she is heading towards trouble and cut her off before she gets there.

Camo, Goats and Other Things

We were so disappointed to have missed the dove hunt after party because of all the rain we had last week. So we thought we would surprise Dad with wearing out camo when he came home yesterday. And we put on her flower pants just in case she needed to hide in a flower garden. Camo never looked so good.

Mom and Dad brought Laurie a billy goat home from Canada. Up till now she's paid little attention to it, but all of a sudden, it's hysterical. I will never get tired of sweet baby laughter.

I had a thought the other day that we have been living with the status quo for a while, getting into a nice routine. And it would be about time for her to surprise me with some changes. She heard me and is answering loudly. Like waking up every hour till 2am, cutting her first tooth, realizing the keys on her piano make music, crying when her toys are taken away, and crawling all over the place. I already miss her easy days of 6 months old, but 7 months is proving to be quite the adventure.

Peek-a-boo

Sometimes she is just so cute, I can barely stand it. What does she think she is doing?
