Best Friends

Look who's been reunited!!!

We are thrilled to have Bubby back. A personal shout out to my new best friends, Pat and Sherry, from MMO, who called today to say Bubby had been found. It's been 5 days since Bubby first went missing. I was beginning to despair he would be found. I was having such a Velveteen Rabbit moment, picturing poor Bubby on the side of the road, wet, dirty, perhaps run over, unloved and forgotten (yes, I know Bubby is not real). My sweet baby kept wondering, "Where Bubby? He in the car? He at school?" I just put them down for a nap and left Anna Fair giggling with Bubby draped around her face. I am pretty sure I saw Bubby crack a smile too.

Our Weekend

A few shots from a fun weekend.

A good time always starts off with a nap wearing shoes and a stolen backpack.

Our sweet friend Audrey Cate is moving in a few weeks. We are so sad, but at least we enjoyed celebrating her birthday! A gymnastics party, what a fun idea!

We talk about fall and leaves changing color a lot lately. So of course we needed to make a hand print tree with all our found leaves.

Fall Festivities

There were lots of fall festivities to be had this weekend and we had them all. Make balloon animals? We'll take 2. Space jumps, our favorite. Horses, check. Candy, trick or treat. Face painting, you know it. Carnival games, do I get candy for it? And friends and pumpkin carving galore.

Halloween is tomorrow and we are prepared. Costumes are yet to be determined.

Visiting Aunt Alice.

The pig races were a big hit with Laurie.

Anna Fair's lady bug. In case you couldn't tell.

Watching The Great Pumpkin, Anna Fair wouldn't sit still for it.

Pumpkin Carving with Daddy.

Someone is a chicken and took off when Daddy started the tiny jigsaw.

These 2 should come with warning labels.

Wake at your own risk.

Anna Fair Turns Two - Part 4

Does she like her new baby doll? I think so.

Anna Fair Turns Two - Part 3

When you have as much wonderful family as we do, it's a built in party every time we get together.

Fun tattoos.

Singing happy birthday and loving cupcakes.

Sweet hugs from fam.

Her gift from Laurie.

She had so much help with her gifts, she backed herself into a corner.

First Fire of the Season

We invited our fun cousins over to play last night. We were so lucky that a little cold snap came our way! After some slave labor to pick up sticks and pine cones (our yard looks great, thanks guys!), we were roasting weanies and marshmallows in no time! A word of warning, don't leave your hot dog lying around, as Charlie and I learned, Anna Fair is a thief! Though, they were more looking forward to roasting the marshmallows, but I'm afraid we burnt more than we ate.

After all that playing, the little girls hopped in the bathtub. Anna Fair made a run for it before I got the camera, but the big ones loved it and lingered for a while. Thanks for coming over!

Sisters

Love Laurie reading to Anna Fair.

Welcome back, welcome back, welcome back.

Will and I spent a much needed weekend away by ourselves, while my mother graciously kept our babies (Thanks, Mom!). I took zero pictures of our trip. I did have the camera at the ready for our monumental greeting home.

Laurie turned, said "hey" and turned back to finish watching Peter Pan. Nice. Her present went in the garbage

Anna Fair on the other hand, just happened to be coming down the hall as we came in. She sprinted towards us, squealing, as if we had bags of candy. Ahhh, sweet justification. You can have Laurie's gift.

Anna Fair's First Day

Anna Fair started Mother's Morning Out this week. I wanted to get a sweet picture before we left home, but she's more interested in the neighbor kids playing next door.

Both our girls are notoriously independent. Every child in her room is crying, but Anna Fair sidled up to the toys and got down to business. The only way I know she is a little nervous, she sucks her thumb like life depends on it.

Stylish

Anna Fair's hair has been looking a little scraggly lately, I have procrastinated cutting it, as that is such a big girl thing to do. But the other night during bath time, I gave her a little trim. The back was especially knotted where she rubs it on her mattress, and looks really short now. When she was born, Anna Fair was all dark curls, but it's grown in lighter and lighter, now that I've trimmed off all those, she looks so blonde!

Bubby

Anna Fair has a best friend, his name is Bubby. He is most beloved of all things beloved. If you had seen Bubby yesterday, you would know he was loved and believed he would never be white again. It takes a lot of work and magic to get Bubby away from his friend. We do have a back up Bubby. Back up Bubby is not beloved, he is ignored and begrudgingly taken as a last resort. The plan was to keep beloved Bubby clean for a while and Anna Fair could use back up Bubby. Unfortunately, she followed me into the laundry room and spied a tiny slip of him hanging from the shelf, throwing back up Bubby to the floor, she flipped out.

Ahhh, sweet reunion.

Let's break this down. First, you must face plant in Bubby, rub your face on him, maybe even a little drool. I forgot to put Bubby in bed with her once, she cried for an hour. I've never done that again.

While holding Bubby, thumb sucking is a must. Especially good if the thumb has not been washed all day.

The other hand is busy rubbing Bubby between her fingers. True nirvana. I feel sleepy just looking at her face.

Dowa! Dowa! Dowa!

I think Dora should be classified as a cult. We have a new convert in our house. She walks around shrieking "Dowa! Dowa! Dowa!" All. The. Time. I just thought Laurie knew how to be annoying. Anna Fair has surpassed the master. She can spy her out anywhere. I've seen her find a 2 inch picture on the side of a juice bottle in the grocery. It's good to know she spends her time so wisely.

Spring Break: Natchez Style

I was thrilled to see Laurie fit into one of my old pilgrimage dresses. It is in pretty bad shape, but after I do a little magic, I think it'll be perfect.

And Anna Fair fit in another.

This little stinker would not snuggle with me for nothing. But, apparently, if you give her enough powdered doughnuts...

She is yours for life. Makes me so mad.

I was thrilled for Laurie to dance in the Little Maypole just as I did when I was a child. I wasn't able to get any pictures of her actually dancing, just watching the Big Maypole. It's ok, we'll just have to go again. :) Laurie had a grand time. Back stage, there were lots of pretty girls in pretty costumes, Laurie repeatedly told me in awe, "Look, momma, at all the princesses!" (she's on the top row, far right)

I love how she is racing off the stage. The other girls were sweetly skipping, arms held gracefully to their sides. We may need to take ballet lessons or some such.

And we helped host tourists at Grandma Betty's house too. We did very little hosting, we mainly looked cute and got into trouble.

Here's what Anna Fair thought about her hoop skirt. We didn't last long at Routhland.

So sweet.

Even sweeter.
