Mommy's Helper

Laurie loves to unsort. She is king of unsorting. After clinging to my leg all while I was getting dinner ready and all through dinner, she remembered she needed to unsort her drawer while we were cleaning up. It kept her happy for a long time, we were through cleaning and enjoying tv, while she was still happily unsorting.

Cookie

We've started the habit of letting Laurie have a cookie when she's finished her meals. It did not take her long at all to learn this wonderful new word.

More Walking

My parents came up today for a good visit, she showed them how great she is on her walker. After they left, she decided to work more on her walking. Each day, she gets a little better at it. She really wants to walk on her own and is not afraid to take a tumble. We have a sad little bruise on her cheek that hurts my heart. Getting good shots of Laurie is like catching wind, but I thought this was a pretty good video.

Running Circles

Laurie has learned how to turn her walker, or just manhandle it where she wants to go. She loves making laps around the couch, into the kitchen, down the hall, into her room. I think we are training for the next marathon!

Happy Valentine's Day!

Happy Valentines from our little love bird to you!

A few days ago, Laurie made her first few steps. We are so excited for her! But I can't seem to get it caught on tape. Here's the best I have gotten so far.

Third Attempt

I just finished Laurie's third dress. We went with a very easy, make in a day, pillowcase dress pattern. I am really pleased with how it turned out, though as usual, I would do a few things differently next time. I just started her forth dress, using the same pattern as for her birthday dress. It seems I like to make things difficult with all the embroidery I do enjoy, it's definitely not a make in a day style. I can't wait to show her off!

Laurie enjoyed her new shoes until she realized she was supposed to WEAR them on her feet! Who came up with the dumb idea of shoes? She has a bone to pick with them.

Barbours at the Rodeo

The Barbours go with their friends to the rodeo every year. Laurie was just 3 weeks old last year, so we missed going. But we were so excited to go this year. Laurie had a great time checking out her cousins and watching all the activity. The fireworks and loud noises, were not her favorites. Daddy had to take her for a few strolls outside to recover. Daddy's favorite part is the bull riding. Mommy's favorite part is the fried pickles at Cock of the Walk after the rodeo. We all slept really well last night!

Visit with Dr Phillippi

We went for our 1 year check up with Dr Phillippi today. Laurie is starting to wise up about the doctor's office. She was fine until we entered the exam room and then she was so anxious and fussy. Laurie is still doing wonderfully, she weighs 30 lbs (50%) and is 20.5 inches (85%) tall.

We spent a lot of time this weekend practicing our walking skills. I start her off on a straight path, and it never fails that she veers off to run into the first thing possible.

Feeling Feverish

Laurie came down with a touch of fever last night. And while I feel so sorry for her, she sure is cuddly.

Riding Like a Big Girl

We've changed out the baby car seats for forward facing big girl car seats. I was so excited for Laurie to see the world from this direction. She does not seem overly impressed. I guess to her it's just another day running errands in the car. Laurie does tickle me with her arms up on the arm rests. She's so grown up.
