Summer Do

 Before...
After...

I think the poor child lost 3, maybe 4 inches.  The ravages of pool water were killing her poor hair, and I was ready for something lower maintenance.  We waited till post wedding and post formal portrait.  She insisted she was ready, though I was afraid she would cry later.  Daddy may have been the only one horrified.  So far, we're loving our new easy, breezy haircut.

Caterpillar to Chrysalis to Butterfly

BB gave us a caterpillar kit this summer and it has been a hit with our two.  Laurie especially has been fascinated by the concept that a creature can magically change into something different.  We are just amazed they lived long enough to become butterflies considering the rough treatment we've given them.  Thanks BB and butterfly family for the experience!

Weekend Getaway

After all the fun busy-ness of VBS, we took a 2 hour nap, then packed up to wind down at Lake St John.  I love it there and all the memories it brings back of my summers as a kid.  What joy to see my kids making their own fun lake memories.

We captured lots of minnows and water bugs.  It provided hours of entertainment to watch them up close and personal.

The girls could ride in Big Bertha from sun up to sunset.  Even sweeter that they are old enough to ride by themselves.  I can't wait till they even older so we can show them how to really ride Big Bertha.  ;)  At one point, Anna Fair asked me to ride with her, then proceeded to curl up and try to take a nap on me.  Odd, Momma wasn't overly interested in napping on Big Bertha.

Soldiers of Christ

Another year of VBS is in the can!  This year our theme was Soldiers of Christ and we learned all about putting on the armor of God.  This was Anna Fair's first year and what an introduction she had!  It was a lot of fun for her, but she was utterly exhausted by the end of the day.  And I think this was the first year Laurie was really into VBS, talking about the bible stories, remembering her verses, singing the songs.  This is my second year leading and mothering on 35 babies.  I've missed having my own table, but it's fun to table hop and get to know all these little people who will be Anna Fair's friends for the next 15 years.

It can be sometimes be hard to get the boys interested in craft time, but put a sword, helmet or shield project in front of them and they were enthralled!  We have such a great group creative ladies.

Thanks to all our directors, song leaders, skit people, table teachers, bible teachers, snack, playground people, the teen helpers.  It really does take a village to put on VBS!  And special thanks to Mrs Hogue and Taylor that loved on my girls this week.  Now, we are off to take a nap.

Hope's Wedding

Our sweet sitter, Hope, was married last weekend and we were so fortunate to see two sweet people who love Jesus join in holy matrimony.  What an encouragement!  We have been blessed that she has loved my babies all these years and will miss her so!  Her whole family is precious and we enjoyed catching up with all of them.  (And a very special thanks to BB for coming to help me wrangle the precious angels!!!!)

Laurie and Anna Fair took their sprinkling job very seriously.  There was little space in that aisle that wasn't decorated with confetti.

We rolled in the grass, sprinkled the rest of the confetti and played with our dolls for most of the ceremony.
 Congrats, Hope!
