Cutie Pie

I think we are in what they call the golden age of babyhood. Laurie is sleeping so well at night. She is interacting with us and showing joy and delight. Will and I live for a smile and a giggle. Today, we had such fun playing together on the floor, rolling around and getting to know her little play things.
She tickles me in her little chair. Bouncing up and down, she waves her arms in excitement, as if to say, "I am here and ready to conquer the world!"
And her favorite is standing up. You wouldn't think those fat little stumpy legs could hold her up at all. Her stance is quite precarious. There is much swaying to and fro. Most blessedly, she is neither crawling nor walking. I rue the day I put her down and come back to find her on the move.

What a Girl Doesn't Like

Laurie is becoming so much more aware of her surroundings. She is noticing what is going on around her. And realizing that she doesn't like some of those things. Sneezing, coughing, and blowing your nose are high on the list of things she doesn't like. Which makes my current allergy flare up a real problem. But it is hard for her to stay mad for long at the person she finds her comfort in. Poor little Puddin'. On the plus side, she is also afraid of the vacuum cleaner. Why is that a plus? Because Mama will use any excuse not to clean the house.

Where did my brain go?

I have fallen into the horrible habit of losing things between the store and my house. I don't know where they go. I have distinct memories of picking them up and putting them in my cart. They are on the receipt for which I paid good money for. It isn't isolated to just one store, I've done it in Kroger, Home Depot and Target. Is my eye sight fading? Is there some conspiracy by retailers to steal my money? To date, the tally of lost items is: a shrub, carton of eggs, Lysol, and box of napkins. What on earth is wrong with me???

Early Reading

Laurie disagrees with Ligon's latest letter in the First Epistle.
Who knew the sound of crinkling paper would be such an attraction. She was entertained for a good hour. Now I know how I can get chores done in the afternoon!

Turning Flips

The last few mornings when I have gone in to check on Laurie, this is how I've been finding her. She is making tremendous strides in flipping over. The only problem being she has trouble flipping back the other way. On a separate note, can you count the number of pacies in her
bed...one, two, three, FOUR!

More Cereal

By request, we have more moments of attempting to get cereal down Laurie. I can't decide if she really likes it or not. She takes it, but then spits most of it out. If nothing else, she seems to like mushing it with her fingers. Bathtime generally occurs immediately following dinnertime.

Baby No More

Sigh...I know this is just another one in a long string of disappointments from Laurie outgrowing yet another thing. I know that this onesie fit her just last week! But here we are, it's strangling her neck and the crotch won't snap at all! When did my baby turn into such a big girl??? But isn't she just the cutest thing you ever did see?

Advances in Playtime

I may be slightly delusional about how 'special' Laurie is. Though she will be ready for Harvard soon, I am not sure she is technically ready for the exersaucer seeing as how her arms can't quite reach the toys.

But it sure is cute looking at her big melon head bobbing and her little feet dangling.
