Crawling Already?

Of course I think our child is a genius. and advanced. and gifted as well. So, I am sure her rolling over is a sign that she will be crawling well before the curve. I can't decide if that is a good thing or a bad thing. I sure do like that when I put her down somewhere, she will be there when I get back. Nor am I quite ready to start putting away all my breakables and what not. It is a good thing I know my angel wouldn't be so bad as to mess with our stuff.

Yummy Yucky

For a while now, I have noticed Laurie eyeing us when we are eating, so it was with some anticipation that I prepared to give her the first bowl of rice cereal. Even she seemed to be excited about having her first food. Perhaps she decided that this eating thing is not all it's cut out to be.

The sweet sounds of laughter

For about the last week, Laurie has been laughing, and I don't mean the occassional, fleeting giggle. I mean the full on belly laugh at whatever it is that a 4 month old finds funny. But actually catching it on video was tough, I was beginning to wonder if she thinks I'm boring. Today though, we had a perfect moment of hilarity. I wish I could isolate that laughter and play it over and over in my ears. What a sweet, sweet sound.

Fun with Grandma Betty

Never in all my born days would I have thought to see my 80+ year old grandmother on the floor, but here is living proof that a baby does produce youth. Walking in to see this sight left me speechless, all four generations thoroughly enjoyed our visit. Sadly, I had been playing with the settings on our camera and it was taken in sepia. Maybe I can get her back down there the next time she visits!

Baptism

Laurie and cousin Meg were Baptized today. I am not sure I could have been more excited or more nervous. Much thought was given to when to have her up, fed and napped, ready to face the congregation. But as they say, plans do not fit into that of a 16 week old and she was un-napped come church time. Despite the threat of a looming tantrum, we lulled her to sleep and she snoozed through the entire ceremony, showing herself as just the perfect angel.

Happy Anniversary

Our third anniversary. I don't think I could ask for a more wonderful one than increasing our size by one tiny pudding pop.

And thanks to Aunt Fair for letting mama and dada have a night out.

Good Morning!

I love going in to get Laurie up in the morning. Mornings she sleeps in, I will peek in 5 to 10 times to see when she will make her appearance. Often, I am tempted to wake her, just so I can see that sweet smile and hear her coo and squirm in excitement (though I never succumb to that temptation). It must be nice to have such adoring fans.

Life Begins

This is my first attempt at creating a blog. And my very first entry. So, I'll make this short and sweet in fear that it doesn't work out quite right.

I still can't believe I'm a mommy. I can't believe the hospital let me take this sweet baby home. And I can't believe a child this beautiful is mine. Other than a few sleepless nights (ok, maybe more than a few), it has been an absolute joy. Every day I learn something new about her, every day she takes a stronger grip on my heart.
