Spring Break: Yazoo One Last Time

On our way back from Natchez, we decided to stop by Yazoo City to spend the night. One of my favorite Yazoo sights is seeing Stewart's ponies on the hill across from the pond.

Spring Break: More Time in Natchez

When we weren't dressing up, we were hopping in the jeep for a spin. Laurie drives about 2 feet, then jumps out to load the bed full of leaves, sticks, and flowers.

Uhm, where did my chauffeur go?

Laurie has a lot to learn about steering, no dog, car or bush is safe when she's at the wheel.

Sweet cousins stopped by for a visit.

So happy to have the car to herself!

Spring Break: Natchez Style

I was thrilled to see Laurie fit into one of my old pilgrimage dresses. It is in pretty bad shape, but after I do a little magic, I think it'll be perfect.

And Anna Fair fit in another.

This little stinker would not snuggle with me for nothing. But, apparently, if you give her enough powdered doughnuts...

She is yours for life. Makes me so mad.

I was thrilled for Laurie to dance in the Little Maypole just as I did when I was a child. I wasn't able to get any pictures of her actually dancing, just watching the Big Maypole. It's ok, we'll just have to go again. :) Laurie had a grand time. Back stage, there were lots of pretty girls in pretty costumes, Laurie repeatedly told me in awe, "Look, momma, at all the princesses!" (she's on the top row, far right)

I love how she is racing off the stage. The other girls were sweetly skipping, arms held gracefully to their sides. We may need to take ballet lessons or some such.

And we helped host tourists at Grandma Betty's house too. We did very little hosting, we mainly looked cute and got into trouble.

Here's what Anna Fair thought about her hoop skirt. We didn't last long at Routhland.

So sweet.

Even sweeter.

My nonsnuggler

But if you load her up on sugar donuts, she's yours forever.

Running Circles

We spent another pretty day in Yazoo. While the big kids were off riding mo glo and taking a spin on the four wheeler, Anna Fair and I explored the hill in front of the pond. Well...ok, so Anna Fair explored, I sat in one spot and took 200 photographs of her. She went up the hill and down, talked to the geese, watched the boys fish in the water, played in the jonquils, and picked wild flowers. She may not be able to keep up with the big kids, but we manage to keep busy.

Spring Break: Day 1

Day 1 of spring break and Laurie is already asking non-stop, "What we doing?" and "Where we going?" Offended, I said, "You used to love snuggling with me for hours while I watched the Today Show!" So, I hit the internet for craft ideas, loaded us in the car to stock up at Michaels, then checked out a thousand new books from the library.

Laurie insisted we buy daddy some new lolly pops. Uh yeah, for daddy, right.

This thing can go to town on a lolly.

First up to keep little hands busy:

Ours, of course, didn't turn out as cute as theirs did. And, I, of course, didn't do it exactly as they did, using whatever I happened to have on hand.

On a cookie sheet, have little one spread glue on paper.

Pour salt to completely coat onto the glue. Shake off excess.

Combine 1 T of water with 5 drops of food coloring.

Using a dropper, drop food coloring onto the glue. If your little one is like mine, she will pretty much just pour the food coloring everywhere. And also included, is the wee little one's masterpiece.

Tomorrow, we do this:

What's For Dinner?

I have always thought of myself as an adventurous eater, I'll try most anything once. (ok, so I don't like celery and I won't eat anything that has touched green bell pepper) Will is a meat and taters kind of guy and Laurie has quickly followed in his footsteps. But there is hope yet. While eating a plate of brussel sprouts, Anna Fair insisted on having some. I knew she would spit it back out, but she came back for more, again and again. I finally fixed her own plate and she loved it! I am so excited!

Why, hello there, ham bone. Your honey baked ham was a delight, but I am psyched to enjoy your red beans and rice in just a few short hours!

Yep, been trying out the new camera photographing any and everything.

Butterflies

What's a girl to do on a rainy day? Enjoy the Butterfly Exhibit at the Natural Science Museum, of course! The butterflies were amazing, we oohed and ahhed over every single one. And enjoyed the maze too. Laurie didn't quite get that you only stick your head through the picture hole. Great fun for an otherwise yucko day! (feel free to gush over our new spring clothes)

Sweet Sleep

I know all babies must sleep like this. It tickles my heart. I just want to pick her up and kiss on her cheeks. But, yeah, I am smart enough not to.

New, New, New

Whew, I was about ready for a new post to get my just woke up mug off here!

For my birthday, my sweet husband gave me a new super duper fancy camera! And can I just say, "hello, Beautiful!" Look at how crisp, how clear! See those curls? Look at her eyes! (but don't look at the chocolate smear)

I haven't tried any but the barest features, but so far, I am impressed. Course, I was complaining to Will that we needed to go somewhere so I could take some photos and try out my new skills. (I hear guys like girls with skills) (quote? anyone?)

Happy Birthday, Momma!

What's better than birthday cake? Why birthday muffins, of course!

Happy Birthday, Leigh!

Laurie loves sweet Leigh, she often comes home for church talking about playing dolls with her. We were so happy to celebrate our sweet friend's day.
