Ho Ho Ho

Funny girls playing Santa Claus.  Sounds like Anna Fair is getting all recycled toys this year.  Works well for Momma.

While the Cat's Away

Daddy doesn't often leave us for more than a day at a time.  Having him gone for a full week has been a unique experience.  Here's what I've noticed:

1.  When you're not around, I'm a complete slob.
2.  I've had complete control of the remote.
3.  There is NOTHING on TV.
4.  Woohoo for romances on direct tv.  I've swooned to Henry Higgens, Rick, The Man with One Red Shoe, and Joe from Roman Holiday.

5.  I clean out a lot when no one is around to tell me not to.
6.  No one has made me coffee all week.
7.  Food goes much further.
8.  There is nothing to look forward to at 5:30.  The evenings stretch on and on and on.  We had dinner yesterday at 4:30.
9.  No one is here to pick up dead bugs.
10. Trash is piling up.

11.  I'm reading all the books by myself.
12.  I'm bathing all the little girls by myself.
13.  I'm doing bedtime all by myself.
12.  No one is here to snore in my ear.
15.  I've had the entire bed to myself.
16.  I'm a sucker without someone to back me up.  I let Laurie sleep outside one night.
17.  No one got my Seinfeld reference.

18.  No one has laughed at my snarky comments.
19.  While you've been gone, I've eaten all your least favorite foods.  (on a similar note, your children tried brussel sprouts, liked them, Anna Fair had seconds and thirds, they are now on the menu rotation, get used to it).
20.  When neighbors find out you are out of town, the rescind the favor they were asking.  Apparently, I am completely unreliable.
21.  Your children may have run around the house nude for an entire afternoon.

Humility

Last week we were shopping in Freds when a woman with a huge beehive hairdo walked in.  Laurie loudly proclaimed, "Momma, that lady has a lot of hair!"  I just knew I would have to take a beating in the Fred's parking lot, but the woman so generously told Laurie, thank you.  Proud.

We've recently had to discuss death in our home.  Yesterday, we dropped food off at a friend's house who's on bedrest for her pregnancy.  While discussing it with her husband, Laurie asked, "what's wrong with her?"  He told her and Laurie asked, "Is she going to die?"  Proud.

In our home, we only use potty words in the bathroom.  Five minutes ago, I walked by to see Laurie sitting in the bathroom saying all the potty words she knows.  Proud.

All this humility is brought to you by this sweet 4 year old.

Bee

Laurie managed to squeeze into our 2T bee costume. "Look at my stinger."

Halloween Shenanigans

It's not to late to post Halloween pics, right?

We posed with our pumpkin.  You might wonder if our pumpkin has freckles and eyelashes.  You would be right.  Laurie insisted on wearing a handmedown costume much to big for her and her hand made crown.  It didn't go well.
We met up with friends at the school carnival and ate orange cupcakes till we were all permanently stained orange.
 Jumpyland.
For all the times I've accused Anna Fair of being my chicken child, I apologize.  No idea where Laurie was during this time, she is still my wild child.
We came home to trick or treat, Laurie ditched her dragging costume and smushed crown for our favorite ballerina get-up.  Trick or Treaters Away!  Did we bang on every door chanting "TRICK OR TREAT TRICK OR TREAT TRICK OR TREAT" till the door was answered?  Yes, we did.
