Milestones

The day before Anna Fair's half birthday, we discovered the tiniest little needle prick of a tooth. Can you just barely see it on the front, left?

Now that she is 6 months, we started feeding Anna Fair solids. Well, she's been eating cereal for a while, but she ate a yummy dinner of squash to celebrate 1/2 a year with our girl.

And of course, the lesser known milestone: red, plastic, clown lips.

And This One Makes Three

It's official, Laurie now has three teeth. I have suspected she has another coming in, she is rolling her tongue and sucking on her fingers a lot. If you know my girl, this is highly unusual and strictly violates the Keep Mouth Shut rule.

So, today we are heading to Yazoo City in William's truck with Laurie sitting between us. I am feeding her apple chips (apple chips are #1 on my thankful list today) when Will says he thinks he has seen a tooth. After some wrangling (to get around the Keep Mouth Shut rule), Laurie finally gives us a good look and we see a little white porcelain head, with a neighbor coming on close behind him! How exciting! It is no wonder Laurie was in such a stinky mood today. She even treated Grandmother Dicey to a full on tantrum. Whew!

Here's a shot of bath time tonight. It's come a long way from the early days. Please excuse the steamy shots. We like to talk about our bath toys and are always obsessed with the drain.

The Tooth Fairy

I have been suspecting for the last week that Laurie has a tooth coming in. She doesn't really want to open her mouth to let you see it and she sure won't let you feel it. But I thought I felt a little sandpaper on her gums, plus she's been rolling her tongue all over her mouth. We finally managed to pry her mouth open to get a little proof. And what do my wondering eyes see? Not just one tooth, but TWO! Poor baby, it must hurt to have two big mean teeth coming in all at once.

Teething?

So...any advice from you expert mommies out there?

I think she is teething anyway. Or maybe just out of sorts. She's been fussy and clingy. Wanting to nurse constantly, but stopping after a few minutes. And the worse sin of all, she has been waking up crying during the night and getting up early. Does she not know we don't do that anymore???
