The Week of Family Vacations, Part 2

Next, we headed down to Orange Beach for a few more days with my folks at the beach. We loved the Caribe and will definitely be back. Laurie settled into her own and had a blast on the slide. She slid more times than I can count, that girl is such a daredevil. Anna Fair and the adults even took a turn on a few of their slides.

She begged and begged to play on the beach too. We spent a beautiful morning on the beach, no waves and a slight breeze made it perfect. We saw so many fish swim by, even felt a few nibble on our toes. Laurie and I dug a pool in the sand and came across a funny little sand crab. Laurie wouldn't touch him, but she peered hard eye to eye with him. We finally put him back in his tunnel and haven't stopped talking about him since.

We parted ways with much sadness. Laurie cried several times on the way home for her Bebe. It was nice to have so many to help with our little people, I wanted to cry too. Thank you for a fun trip, Bebe and Grandaddy! And now back to reality!

Memorial Day With the Carters

We spent a fun day in Natchez with my family. Cici and Roro have an awesome back yard. We thought Laurie would tire of swimming in no time and we would head to the lake for a boat ride. We were wrong. Three and 1/2 hours later and she finally called uncle. Laurie was asleep before we left their street

Laurie loves swimming, she jumped and splashed and floated. All her cousins are older than her and her overprotective mother worried they wouldn't play with her, but I was so wrong. They were so sweet and helpful.

Laurie is getting pretty good at the trampoline.

Parker has a pretty sweet tractor, complete with sippy cup holders!

Bebe had fun enough with her own little bathing beauty.

Play-Doh Birds and G-daddy and Bebe

It's been weeks since the baby birds flew the nest, but we still like to talk about them.

G-daddy and Bebe came to visit us a few weeks ago. Laurie and Bebe are in a mutual adoration society. It looks like Anna Fair is joining that club as well.

Spring in Natchez

I love the spring! We want to be outside enjoying the beautiful weather we are having. Waking up from our long winter's nap to warm ourselves in the sun. We want to play outside until we are sunburned, exhausted, and our feet have so many blisters we have to wear socks with our sandals. What better excuse than to visit my parents? We played on the boat, ran hard, picked flowers, rode the choo choo train (yes, I know, that is not a train), chased Mini Pearl to give her kisses and enjoyed being with the people we love so much! Thanks for having us, Bebe and Granddaddy!

Welcome, Logan Latta!

On Friday, March 5th, my brother welcomed his son, Logan Latta, into his family. What a wonderful day! Our family is full of March birthdays and I am so excited to share a birth month with my nephew. I hate to tell Jennifer, but I think Logan looks an awful lot like Richard. I think Richard, Jennifer, and Abigail are handling their new addition really well, if perhaps not getting much sleep. Richard told Jennifer he planned to go back to work when Logan started sleeping well at night. Apparently, he plans to take a few months off work. :)

Queen Bebe

Mother has really enjoyed Mardi Gras in Natchez. She is queen this year and Mom and Dad have had a great time with all the festivities. We attended the Call Out Ball this weekend and they really put on quite a show. This year's theme is Las Vegas; Bette Middler, Wayne Newton, Elvis, Celine and many others were all in attendance, we had a blast!

While we were home, I pulled out my baby cradle from when I was a little girl, Laurie and I had a good time playing house. She is a natural.

Laurie in Natchez

Laurie and I and spent a few fun days in Natchez. While we were there, we tried out Laurie's gills in Aunt Sue's pool. Laurie was a little leery at first of all that deep water, but she warmed up fast and enjoyed splashing around and watching her big cousins play. The highlight might be the sugar cookies.

On Saturday, Daddy came up and we drove to the lake for a boat ride. It was pretty hot, but Laurie was such a trooper, especially when Granda let us drive the boat.

Bebe and Granda

Bebe and Granda came up to see us (and by us, I mean Laurie) Sunday. Bebe did an excellent job helping Laurie color. As usual, they brought Laurie a gift, a big bubble wand. While we were outside popping bubbles, Dada worked a little on watering our yard. What little girl would be able to turn down a run through the water hose? In our Sunday dress. The cold water was a bit of a shocker, but she still decided it was good fun. Laurie ran through the water, chased after it, and found the only mud hole in the entire yard. For Dada and Laurie's sakes, I hope the mud comes out of her dress.
