Socks and Sounds

I think I need to make a confession. I have a severe streak of jealousy where my child is concerned. We were at Aunt Fair's house on Monday and Laurie seemed to really enjoy playing with their See N Say toy. It took me a whopping 2 days to go out and buy one. We've been playing with it ever since.

And I still like to put her socks on her hands. I started doing it because I wanted to see how long it took her to get them off. And maybe to see how mad it made her. Who knew she would enjoy wearing them and never even tried. Who knew?

Memorial Weekend

We spent some time this past weekend with my folks and Richard and his family. She loved playing with her older cousins, they are so cool! No trip home is complete without a ride around the lake. After last year's attempt (and this), I couldn't be sure how she would do. I think it really helped that the weather wasn't hot and her life jacket actually fit. If only Dada would have let her drive, she might be an official water baby.

Playing Around

We've been playing hard around our house. Trying out new activities, Laurie changes so quickly, I can scarce keep up with the new skills she is learning. We pulled out my old childhood table and chairs from the attic. Laurie immediately scampered right up. She really just wants to climb up and down and up and down, but occasionally she takes time out to color me a few pictures. I'll have to scan in her art work, you'll be impressed, I know.

I am not above shoving socks on her hands just to terrorize her.

We are getting to be an excellent rocker.

Dada's Home

5:30 is a big time at our house, it means Dada is coming home from work. We hear his car in the drive and bolt for the door, standing on our tiptoes, trying our hardest to see him, giggling and laughing the whole time. Dada enjoys our little game too and peers in the window at Laurie. Who wouldn't rush home if you knew this would be your welcome every day?

The next time you are at our house, and wonder why our blinds are raised 3 inches above the window, now you know.

GO!

Laurie's new favorite word is "GO!" It doesn't matter where, just go. She toddles over for me to put her shoes on, then whines until we head out the door.

I don't know how far she would push the stroller if I let her, but it's always a tantrum when I make her turn around. It tickles me how far she's come from her early days of pushing it into everything, and now she can somewhat manage to get it to go in a straight line.

We like to wander in the streets.

Pat the bunny in the yard.

Clean the gravel out of the cracks in the street.

Perdido Key

Will, Laurie, and I took a family vacation down to Perdido Beach last weekend. I wasn't sure what to expect, last year was something of a success, but I don't believe 9 month old Laurie was savy enough to really "get" the beach. I was really hoping 15 month old Laurie took to it like a fish to water.

Our first day, Laurie was happily toddling on the beach, enjoying the sand, until a tiny little wave touched her feet, I wasn't sure we would ever recover. Might have made for a long vacation. Each trip down, it took her a good 5 minutes to warm back up to the sand and the waves. She generally was happy on the beach for 1 hour trips. Longer than that, Laurie wanted the sand out of her mouth and a surface that was easier to walk on. She entirely rejected the pool.

Being married to a Barbour, I can appreciate that the 2T hat we bought for her last year is really snug on her 15 month old noggin. :)
